Mr. Davis concentrates his legal practice on complex business and commercial litigation, including both defense and plaintiff matters, as well as securities, franchise disputes, product liability, toxic torts, environmental cases, multi-district litigation, class actions, and white collar and other criminal defense at both state and federal levels. He previously served as a senior partner with Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough and was a senior shareholder at Greenberg Traurig.

Mr. Davis is a former Captain in the U.S. Air Force, where he was among 20 Circuit Trial Counsel globally, prosecuting serious felonies before juries at air bases across eight western states. He also was an Assistant U.S. Attorney for the Department of Justice, directing grand jury investigations and conducting jury trials involving business crimes, securities, tax and procurement fraud, public corruption, and environmental offenses in South Carolina. During this period, he received specialized training from agencies such as the Securities and Exchange Commission, Internal Revenue Service, Department of Housing and Urban Development, and the Environmental Protection Agency.

His extensive experience encompasses lead counsel roles in high-stakes business trials and complex litigation for national, international, and local clients nationwide. Mr. Davis has been admitted pro hac vice to both state and federal courts in Alabama, California, Florida, Georgia, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, and Wisconsin.

Notable representative matters include:

  • Lead trial counsel in the representation of four rural South Carolina cities collectively facing $120 million exposure in a board of director dispute with the Piedmont Municipal Power Agency and neighboring cities over interpretation of a nuclear power contract and the distribution and sale of electrical power, with the matter favorably settling for $55 million.
  • Serving as co-lead trial counsel in a $100 million exposure commodities and futures trading case representing an international firm, coordinating depositions in the UK and Germany, with a defense verdict obtained at trial.
  • Engagement as lead trial counsel in the evidentiary trial of a $92 million federal procurement dispute before the Armed Services Board of Contract Appeals concerning a nationwide trucking contract performed throughout Afghanistan in the theatre of war.
  • Co-lead trial counsel in two Tennessee class actions, after securing a defense verdict in a 1,000-plaintiff class action jury trial on the "rocket docket" of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia on a similar matter.
  • Regional trial counsel for an international truck manufacturer, securing summary judgment in Alabama.
  • One of two national counsel responsible for litigation relating to a major medical device product for a Fortune 50 company, attaining a summary judgment in United States District Court for the Eastern District of Wisconsin.

Additionally, Mr. Davis represented South Carolina as a delegate on a southeastern trade mission to Japan and Korea and is a recipient of the Order of the Palmetto, the state of South Carolina’s highest civilian honor.
